Lima Senior High School Key Club looks to help hurricane victims

Still seeing a need in Texas and Florida after two massive hurricanes, a local youth service organization steps into action.

The Key Club at Lima Senior High School is asking the community to help them help others. They are asking anyone attending the Lima Senior football game Friday night to bring a few items that can be sent to help in the recovery of Harvey and Irma. Boxes will be set up around the stadium to collect non-perishable food items along with baby, pet, and cleaning supplies. Key Club members say it's important to get young adults involved in service projects.

Key Club Secretary and Treasurer Cassie Phillips says getting people involved in Key Club and getting them involved in service organizations at this age and even younger is so very important. It teaches them life skills that they need to know, it teaches them compassion, it teaches them to help others no matter what their circumstances might be.

Key Club is a high school service and leadership program stemming from the Lima Kiwanis Club.
