LIMA, OH (WLIO) - Creative minds of all kinds came together to throw a big party downtown.

Local businesses and musicians get spotlight at 5th annual Legacy Arts Street Party Saturday

A significant number of the small businesses and musicians featured are local to the Lima area.

The 5th annual Legacy Arts Street Party was moved to the Veterans Memorial Civic and Convention Center because the forecast called for rain most of Saturday. People could still browse over 40 vendors selling anything from paintings to desserts and listen to live music from five different artists throughout the event.

A significant number of the small businesses and musicians featured are local to the Lima area. Many vendors are repeat participants in the festival because it's great exposure for businesses of their size.

"That's the cool thing about the vendors that are here, is that it is so diverse in terms of what it is that they're bringing and to see the amount of creativity that people have been able to build businesses out of, just from their 'make-em ups', just from their imagination. And that is ultimately what we love, seeing that type of diversity in products and the blood, sweat, and tears that these people put into their craft," said Omar Zehery, the co-founder of the Legacy Arts Street Party.

Zehery adds that it's also important to support local musicians so that they continue sharing their talent with their hometown instead of moving away to bigger cities to perform.
