LIMA, OH (WLIO) - Area pickleball players hit the courts on Sunday to raise money for two organizations at once.
Habitat for Humanity and the Lima Fire Department partnered for their 2nd annual Allen County Pickleball Tournament. Over 40 people registered to compete, and this year, organizers added a new bracket for beginners only.
Money raised will be split between the two organizations. The Lima Fire Department will use their share of the funding to build a miniature fire station for the Lima Noon Optimist Club's Safety City.

"Between the funds from last year and then the funds from this year, and then we're really appreciative of Superior for sponsoring our event today and putting some money that will also go towards that, we still have some ways to go. And so, we're continually accepting donations to help us be able to hopefully start that in the spring," explained Caleb Farmer, the volunteer manager for Habitat for Humanity Lima Area.
Farmer adds that Habitat for Humanity is always accepting donations and volunteers to help with this project and others.
