LPD: Lima Man Dies after Being Shot in the Upper Torso at Metcalf Street Home

Media Release from Lima Police Department on Thursday morning shooting.

This morning (Thursday May 19th) at approximately 10:10 AM, First Shift officers responded to 637 N. Metcalf in reference to a shooting that had just occurred. When Officers arrived they located a victim inside the residence. The victim, 46 year old Eric Staup of Lima had been shot in the upper torso. He was transported to St. Rita’s Medical Center where he later died of his injuries. Detectives are actively investigating this shooting as a homicide. There is currently 1 suspect at large in the shooting. Detectives will release further information about the suspect at a later time.
