June 24, 2024, Press Release from Lima Salvation Army: Monday, July 15 kicks off year three of the Made For The Stage Youth Theatre Workshop, a free workshop for students ages 8 – 18 years.
The fun-filled, two-week workshop is a FREE introduction to all things theatre and will cover topics such as acting, directing, playwriting, auditioning, and much more. The workshop concludes with a showcase of the students’ talents at Encore Theatre.
Our instructor, Madison Downing, is a performer, director, producer, new-work development enthusiast, and a creator of art that empowers women. She recently graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Theatre Arts from the Conservatory of Performing Arts (COPA) at Point Park University in Pittsburgh. She received the Academic Excellence Award for COPA, The Alumni Association Distinguished Undergraduate Student Award, and served as Artistic Directed for Ghostlight Theatre Company. Locally, she has worked extensively with Encore Theatre and has been involved in 57 productions between Lima and Pittsburgh.
Madison’s desire to pass on the techniques and theatrical knowledge she has gained to the youth in our community, helping these students gain a new passion and hobby they can share with their community.
The Made For The Stage Youth Theatre Workshop runs July 15 – 26, 2024, Monday through Thursday, from 10:00 – 3:00 pm at The Salvation Army, 614 E. Market St. Space is limited to 30 students.
