A mistake on the United States Postal Service website led people to believe that delivery service had been suspended in Lima today.
The postmaster in Lima clarified that services were to go on today despite the freezing wind chill. The postmaster said welfare of the carries was top priority. They went over safety procedures and carriers were given hand and foot warmers as well as masks. A carrier was sent on every route, but they were to not work past four and use their best judgement if it was too cold to go on.
Speedway gas stations stepped up to help the postal workers by providing free coffee and hot chocolate and a place to beat the cold.
