MakerFest Robot Invasion

If you're out and about across the City of Lima over the next several months, you may see a few robots. No, not the artificially intelligent ones you see in movies.

Seven foot tall wooden robot mannequins have been placed at nineteen different locations across the area. Including The Met, The Meeting Place on Market, the city office building, Nitza's, and the YMCA. Their purpose is to spread the word and get people excited about MakerFest. It's a three day career expo held annually in Lima. The goal is to celebrate and expose the careers in manufacturing, the skilled trades, healthcare, and service industries available here in our area.

The mannequins were introduced at last year's MakerFest and received such a strong response, that officials decided to use them as a mascot for this year's event. Those involved think they'll go a long way. Leading up to MakerFest, the robots will be moved to different locations within each organization. Their signs will feature three or four different messages for the public to read.
