ALLEN COUNTY, OH (WLIO) - The murder trial for a Lima man accused of killing a 14-year-old girl has been pushed back until the fall.

Malik Dennis has his murder trial pushed back to September

18-year-old Malik Dennis signed a time waiver on Tuesday in Allen County Common Pleas Court, pushing his trial back to September 9, 2024. He has been charged with murder, felonious assault, firing a firearm into a house, and tampering with evidence.

Back on February 13, 2024, Lauralye Sterling was found dead from a gunshot wound in her second-story room at a home on Greenlawn Avenue. Dennis was arrested two days later.

During a preliminary hearing, Lima detectives testified that Dennis admitted that he climbed an antenna on the outside of the home and fired a single shot through a window, hitting Sterling. He's being held on a two-million-dollar bond.
