HARDIN COUNTY, OH (WLIO) - Speed is suspected to be a factor in a motorcycle crash that killed an Alger man Thursday night.

The Hardin County Sheriff's Office reports that Chad Goodin died at the scene of the crash on State Route 235. Officials say he was not wearing a helmet and was ejected from his motorcycle.

The sheriff's office reports the 9-1-1 call came just after 10 p.m. of a motorcycle crash. The investigation revealed that Goodin was traveling northbound on State Route 235 and left the west side of the road. The crash remains under investigation.


September 13, 2024, Press Release from the Hardin County Sheriff's Office: On September 12, 2024, at approximately 10:07 p.m., the Hardin County Central Dispatch Center received a 9-1-1 call regarding a motorcycle accident in the 17000 block of State Route 235 in Roundhead Township.

Upon initial investigation, it appeared that a 2008 Harley Davidson driven by Chad Goodin of Alger was traveling northbound on State Route 235 and left the west side of the roadway. Mr. Goodin was not wearing a helmet and was ejected from the motorcycle. He was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The investigation into the crash is ongoing, and speed is thought to be a contributing factor. Assisting the Hardin County Sheriff’s Office on scene were the Roundhead Fire Department, Richland Township Fire Department, BMRT EMS, USV EMS, the Multi-County Crash Investigation Team, Minich’s Towing and Recovery, and the Hardin County Coroner’s Office.
