Motown on the Lake Helps Lake Improvement Association

A big fundraiser tonight for an organization that is working to clean up Grand Lake St. Marys.

The Lake Improvement Association held a Motown on the Lake event featuring the KGB Band from Detroit.

More than 400 people turned out to this year’s event.

All proceeds will go into the general fund of the LIA.

Organization president Tim Lovett hopes they’ll be able to make some improvement on the lake this summer.

“One of the things we’re looking at is our Second Beach area. Microcystin is obviously in our water and we know that. We’re looking at the potential of maybe putting aeration in there. the goal would be to get that beach open and actually get people in the water. We think we can do it. We’re looking at grant money to do that and unfortunately at this time haven’t got all that figured out. We’re going to pursue that this year. That will be our biggest project.“ said Lovett.

The evening also featured a silent auction where people could bid on items and help the Lake Improvement Association that way.
