Mowing expo planned for those interested in mowing contracts with the City of Lima

LIMA, OH (WLIO) - Local landscaping businesses may benefit from a new procedure the City of Lima is initiating this spring.

The city can be responsible for mowing up to 500 parcels during the year. These are city land bank properties and specified parcels with the mowing traditionally being awarded to one contractor. This year will be different as the city wants to break the parcels into separate contracts giving more than one company a chance at a contract.

"It will allow some small businesses to access contracts with the city. Some minority contractors to access contracts with the city. We want to allow more of the money that goes out of the city to be more accessible to smaller businesses and minority contractors," explained Andria Beach Perkins, director of housing for the City of Lima.

To explain the process and see the bid packets, there will be a "Mowing Expo" on Wednesday, February 1, 2023, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Lima Senior High School cafeteria. There will be city representatives along with other service providers for small businesses on hand to answer any questions about applying for these contracts for the first time.
