Music and dance come together for Saturday's Mornings with Maestro

Kids of all ages got to experience the combination of music and dance at Mornings with Maestro. The educational programs are thought up by Maestro Andrew Crust and feature musicians from the Lima Symphony Orchestra as a way to introduce young audiences to the basics of music. Around 20 dancers from Lyn’s Academy of Dance provided the movement in Saturday’s performance as they collaborated with the musician to bring to life a variety of types of music and dance, from waltzes, to jigs and everything in between.

“These programs we do for kids are really the most important thing we do, I think,” says Andrew Crust, Conductor, the Lima Symphony Orchestra. “Because it’s about creating music lovers. People who love music are apathetic, they understand different cultures. They are generally happier, express themselves. To start that at an early age is very important. I am absolutely honored to be a part of this.”

The Lima Symphony will be putting on their 7th performance of the year Saturday called American Voices, which will feature the music of African American composers, as well as, singing selections and spoken word performances.
