Lima's FedEx is in the process of being moved to a larger location to accommodate their growing business. Construction of the 60 thousand square foot facility is underway. FedEx will be moving from their current location on St. Johns Road in Lima, to the new warehouse on McClain Road. The ten million dollar project is being built by the Allen County Port Authority and then being leased to FedEx. Officials say this move will save the company in construction costs while upgrading their Lima operations.
"The reality of global shipping and the amount of volume that goes through Lima is significant and you see FedEx all the time and once again they realize their market's grown in this region because of the other positive upturns in the economy, so they needed to expand their facility," Eric Davis, Director of Planning with the Allen County Economic Development Group.
Davis says the new facility is scheduled to be completed this winter before the busy holiday shipping season.
