LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) - Lima Police Chief Curtis Hile is encouraging residents to connect with officers in a relaxed setting during the return of Coffee With a Cop.

The event will be held Monday, June 29, at Winan's in the Central District from 8 am to 10 am and will give community members an opportunity to meet with Hile and members of the Lima Police Department for casual conversation and to build stronger relationships with law enforcement.

Hile said the goal is to help residents see officers as approachable members of the community while also providing an opportunity to discuss questions and concerns.

"I think the biggest thing that we're trying to accomplish out of this is to let people know that the officers are part of the community. We're approachable. We want to hear from you. We want to hear your questions. We want to hear your concerns. Obviously, we like to hear compliments, but you know, we want to hear the concerns so we can try to address those for you," Hile said.

The police department will also have giveaways during the event, including tickets to the July 2 Niko Moon concert. Officials encourage residents to attend and take advantage of the opportunity to get to know officers and discuss issues affecting the community.
