An officer involved shooting incident in the Village of Oakwood just before 5:00 p.m. Friday night.
Paulding County Sheriff's Office saying deputies were dispatched to 115 North First Street in Oakwood for a suicidal man with a gun to his head. Deputy Jared Renollet encountered 47-year-old Ray Osborn from Continental in a truck. Osborn got out of his truck with a pistol to his head. When Renollet asked Osborn to drop his weapon, Osborn pointed it towards him, and Renollet fired three rounds at Osborn, although the bullets did not hit the suspect. Osborn put his gun inside his truck, but walked toward the deputy while not following his commands, causing Renollet to put down his gun and instead use his taser. Osborn was treated and released at a hospital, then taken to the Paulding County Jail, charges are pending by the prosecutor's office.
Sheriff Jason Landers says an internal investigation will be completed to ensure Renollet complied with policy, saying he's grateful no one was hurt.
