LIMA, OH (WLIO) - Our Daily Bread is raising money to improve their building's sound system.
The "Oh So Sweet" silent auction was organized by one of the soup kitchen's volunteers, who got items donated from over a dozen local businesses and several members of the community, as well as desserts for the bidders to enjoy.
Some of the items auctioned off included Elvis memorabilia, purses, and gift cards. Proceeds will go towards purchasing new audio equipment to help the non-profit more clearly communicate with the people they serve.
"Before each meal we have announcements, we have a short devotional, and offer the blessing. And currently we have a bad echo in the microphone, so it's hard to hear some of the announcements and everything. We tell them, like if there's a church that's going to have an evening meal or something like that," explained Randy Kimple, the director of Our Daily Bread.
They have been in need of a new audio setup for the last two years, but this weekend's auction brings them closer to that upgrade.
