Since the Ohio Redistricting Commission had to draw maps for the new state House and Senate districts four times, and because they kept getting rejected by the Ohio Supreme Court for being unconstitutional, a separate primary election will have to be had for those races and the state central committee positions. Secretary of State Frank LaRose is looking at a possible August 2nd date for that election.

“That date has to be set either by the state legislature or by the federal court. That date has not been finally set yet. But we are telling everybody that really August 2nd is the only logical date to do that, and so we are pushing for that to be the date,” says LaRose. “Again it is ultimately up to either the federal court or the general assembly, the most rational, reasonable, logistically, feasible date to do this is August 2nd.”

LaRose says if you would be interested in being a poll worker for the possible August 2nd primary, to log on to www.voteohio.gov.
