Oiler Alumni renew marriage vows over homecoming weekend

There was something in the air at the University of Findlay, as over 30 couples, who met and fell in love on the campus, renewed their wedding vows as part of homecoming weekend. It was love at first sight for Jim and Darlene Miller, who met on campus back in 1960 and they wanted to celebrate their connection with Oiler Nation.

“It’s been a great blessing to us because we graduated from here and now our grandchildren, says Jim Miller. “We have a granddaughter going here. It means a lot, it’s a great university.”

This is the first year that the university had done something like this for their alumni

“We are very grateful that we have couples who met at the University of Findlay during their college days, went on to marry and have families and stay connected to us,” says Dr. Katherine Fell, President of the University of Findlay. “We are honored by that, and we wanted to celebrate that for them and with them. “

The theme of this year’s homecoming is “Findlay Faithfuls” which has a double meaning with this group.

“Of course that means faithful to each other, as well as, faithful to the university that helped shape them,” adds Dr. Fell. “I am glad we played a roll in helping them find meaningful lives.”
