Operation G.I. Canteen has coffee, donuts, and good conversation each month

Lima, OH (WLIO) - Local veterans are getting together to swap stories and have some coffee and donuts once a month behind an Allen County monument built in their honor. The Veterans Freedom Flag Monument Foundation hosts “Operation G.I. Canteen” on the third Saturday of the month. There is free coffee and donuts for veterans and active military personnel to say thanks for everything they do and have done for this country.

“Well we want to give back to the community and give back to the veterans and just have a place where they can come out here,” says Greg Gebolys, Chairman of the Veterans Freedom Flag Monument Foundation. “It is not a big deal. It is just a cup of coffee and a donut and just sit around and enjoy each other’s company.”

The next G.I. Canteen will be Saturday, November 19th from 8 to 10 am. But on Friday, November 11th, the Veterans Freedom Flag Monument Foundation will be holding a Veteran's Day Ceremony at the monument on Buckeye Road right next to the Joint Systems Manufacturing Center at 11:11 am. All are welcome to attend.
