Parents remember the children they lost during the "Walk to Remember"

Losing a child is the worst feeling a parent can ever have and one local support group is making sure that there is a shoulder to lean on when you are dealing with your loss. The Compassionate Friends held their 10th “Walk to Remember” at Ottawa Metro Park. The group is filled with parents and loved ones who come together to help each other through the grieving process. Besides the walk, they had a balloon launch in memory for the child that they lost. No matter if their loss was recent or years ago, the group is there for one another.

“There is a reason there is a support group for parents who have lost children. Pretty much we don’t fit in anywhere else,” says Jennifer Prine, Compassionate Friends. “We can share things with each other that we couldn’t with anyone else and they understand. We all understand, we understand each other’s pain.”

Even though this was the 10th year for the walk, the organization has been around for 30 years.
