LIMA, OH (WLIO) - The City of Lima is set to start a once-in-a-lifetime project as they check off one of the community's requests for something to do in Lima.

Ground will be broken for the 11.6 million dollar "Lima Community Aquatic Park" on February 2, 2024. It will be located east of Stadium Park off of the roundabout. Most of the funding comes from the "Lima City Better Together" program with ARPA dollars. Additional dollars coming from the state and the Lima City Schools. City officials are excited the construction phase is beginning.

"This has been a long project, a two or three-year process. We think we've got an exceptional design and it's time to implement it. It's going to take about 13 months to build this facility but when it's all said and done we're going to have a great community asset," stated Kirk Niemeyer, Lima Public Works Director.

The groundbreaking is scheduled for Friday, February 2nd starting at 11 a.m. at the site east of Stadium Park with parking near the stadium. The public is invited to attend.
