The Putnam County Fair has one month left to find $50,000 to qualify for a grant for facility upgrades.
In order to apply for the $50,000 Agricultural Society Facilities Grant the fair must match those funds. The fair treasurer says they're original match fell through, and now they are looking for help to come up with the funds.
The grant will be used for water lines, a parking lot, and more. It could also help towards facility improvements, like new buildings, new lighting, new land purchases, and a new sewer system.
Last year's heavy downfall of rain in June hurt their finances, and officials say this money can help get them back on track. "Last year at the fair we had a rain out Friday and Saturday, they were both rained out, so those are our biggest two days, so we took about a $48,000 loss last year at the fair," said Gary Ordway, Fair Treasurer, "We cut the budget, we tightened the money up, and we've survived, we paid all our bills, we're all current, and I think we'll be okay, but we could certainly use some help on this $50,000 grant."
The entry deadline for the grant is July 1st. You can contact the fair at 419-523-4628.
