KALIDA, Ohio (WLIO) - B-K Tool & Design celebrated the start of a major project on Monday with a groundbreaking ceremony for its new building expansion.
The company received a seven-year, 1.294% Job Creation Tax Credit for the project, which is expected to create approximately 37 new jobs.
The 50,000-square-foot building will provide additional space for the company’s departments and support future growth. This marks the fifth expansion for the family-owned business.

"I would say when it comes to pride as we expand the business, I cannot say enough good things about our employees. It's truly a family environment here. I mean, not everything is 100% perfect in any business, but in general, our people and the talent level that walk into this building every single day, I cannot be more proud of the team, of what we become and where we've gone to. So being there from way back in the day, I can just enjoy every move we've made over the decades now of what we've done to get to where we're at," said Kevin Kahle, CEO of B-K Tool & Design.
"We're really happy to support the B-K Tool expansion project. 50,000 square feet is a great new space for them to continue the innovation that they have going on. They are using some of the most advanced robotics technology. So, we're happy to see that in a small town like Kalida here in Putnam County. They're going to be creating 30 plus jobs and that all turns over for the local economy," said Amy Sealts, director of economic development with the Putnam County Community Improvement Corporation.

B-K Tool & Design expects the new building to be completed by the end of this year.
