Reser's Fine Foods of Delphos to Close

Reser's Fine Foods in Delphos has announced it's closing it's doors in September. Reser's is not only the city's largest water customer but they employ 104 people. The city received the notice on Monday that the plant is set to shut down on September 13.

Reser bought the Delphos plant in early 2012 when the owners Chef Solutions went into bankruptcy. The plant makes deli salads and other prepackaged food products.
The plant originally started as I&K last summer. The distribution side of the business was shut down taking with it 124 jobs.

Besides the loss of employment, Delphos will lose the income from the plant's water usage. The food manufacture uses 40,000 gallons of the 1 million gallons of water Delphos produces each day, and between both losses, it leaves the cities future economic state unknown.

Reser's did not give the city a reason why it is closing their Delphos operations.
City officials said they have other food processing companies that may be interested in the facility.
