Ruler Foods, a Kroger Company, coming to Lima

A new grocery store will soon be coming to Lima, bringing more jobs into the city.

Lima City Council approved an ordinance to build a Ruler Foods Store in the city. Council voted to grant Kroger, which operates Ruler Foods, a 15 year 50 percent tax abatement. The $2.8 million store will be built on the site of the former Faurot Elementary School at 515 West Elm Street. The project is supported by the Lima City Schools. The abatement will save Kroger $331,000 over the 15 year period. Ruler Foods will bring with it two full time and 18 part time jobs.

Construction is set to begin next month and the store should be completed in October.
