Sex and race identified from human remains, information still withheld

Little is still known about the human remains found on Interstate 75 early Monday, but we do have a little update.

Hancock County Coroner, Mark Fox, was able to confirm a sex and race were identified from the remains but was not able to release that information. With the investigation ongoing, officials will gather more information before releasing it all at once. Just before 10 a.m. Monday, an ODOT employee mowing the grass near milepost 149 northbound discovered a blue sleeping bag. Inside was a black plastic bag containing human remains.

The investigation is being handled by the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
