If you see something, say something. That was the message at Friday morning's “Real American Sunrise”.

Sheriff and EMA talk about being prepared during critical situations

Allen County Sheriff Matt Treglia and EMA Director Tom Berger talking to local business leaders about threats that businesses don’t normally think about, like an active shooter situation or a hazardous spill. Both men stress the importance of being prepared, whether it is training for a potentially dangerous intruder or having a plan in place if there are suspicious packages outside your door. Because the better prepared you are with the information that law enforcement needs, the faster the situation can be resolved.

“If you are already having a building evacuated and you have information on what you think maybe in there, it helps us when we go through our process to determine what you actually have inside your facility, which may speed our response time up a little bit to get you back into that business and then make sure that you're able to continue on with your operations,” said Tom Berger, Dirirector of Allen County EMA.

Berger says his office responses to around 100 calls per year.
