ST. MARYS, Ohio (WLIO) — The state of Ohio has announced grant funding to support two local projects as part of a broader statewide investment.

The Ohio Department of Development awarded $2.9 million in federal Community Development Block Grant funding from a variety of grant sources. In St. Marys, the Grand Opera House received $250,000 from the Flexible Grant Program to replace the fire escape on the historic building. The city of St. Marys and Auglaize County have previously used portions of their CDBG funding to support the Grand Opera House’s ongoing revitalization.

State grants bring funding to St. Marys Theater and a Van Wert business

Meanwhile, Van Wert County will receive nearly $490,000 through the Economic Development Program to assist Universal Lettering LLC with purchasing new printing equipment. The expansion is expected to help grow operations and could create up to 15 jobs. The $2.9 million in funding was distributed among eight projects across the state.
