LIMA, OH (WLIO) - For high school students, the real world is just around the corner and that means jobs, higher education, and planning for the future.
Students at Lima Senior High School had the opportunity to explore careers and colleges at their career and job fest today where college and job booths were set up for the students to submit applications and understand more about what opportunities they can present for the students. Along with the job fair, they got a glimpse into managing money in the "Real World" with activities to promote financial literacy.
"I think it's important for students to come in here today because there's some students that don't have that opportunity to have access to internet and they don't see all these colleges and they don't see them out there. So they need to be able to see them in person so that they have an idea of where they want to go," said Makenna Guthrie, senior at Lima Senior High School.
"We did this "Real Money Real World" thing on the other side where we had to play with some money with real life situations so I feel like like a lot of people did good and they helped a lot of people out today just to like give them a little experience," said Zaveon Garner, senior at Lima Senior High School.
Ohio Means Jobs was also present to help teach the students how to create their own professional resumes and cover letters.
