Lima Senior hosted an American Red Cross blood drive, which may have helped some Lima Senior students learn more about healthcare.
The spring blood drive brought in students and staff alike to donate blood, and members of the school's health occupations program helped out. They had the opportunity to be part of the drive for class as well as experience that could help them in the future. Students in the health occupations program say that seeing the nurses in action is an interesting opportunity.
"I think it just really opens our eyes to see one side of the health field; even though this isn't specifically what I want to do, I think it's cool to see them and what they actually do," said Addison Wireman, who is a member of the health occupations program, as well as a senior student at Lima Senior. "Some of them are nurses, which is what a lot of us want to be, so I just think it's cool that they can do it right here at our school."
This blood drive was the second drive held at Lima Senior this school year, the first was in the fall.
