Dozens of show cars lined Route 66 in Spencerville Saturday afternoon. It was all for the annual route 66 car show at this year's Spencerville Summerfest. People were invited to register their car as part of the show for just ten dollars. The money they make goes back to the Spencerville Summerfest to help support the different events. The organizer of the car show says they had people register from all over Ohio and some from Indiana.
"I'm just tickled to death to see all these cars out here so far. We're hoping to beat, I'd like to have 150 cars. Put the expectations a little higher,"Â organizer Phil Briggs, said.Â
One Spencerville resident brought his car for the show, which he says he bought used in 1999 and restored himself.Â
"It took about eight years and it's been a dyer love for me, so I just come up here and show it off. I like the compliments and they always put on a good show here in Spencerville," said participant Chad Mcgue.
He says coming to these shows and having people admire his car assures him that it was all worth it.Â
