LIMA, OH (WLIO) - A local family continues their tradition of giving back, by hosting their annual Christmas Eve meal at Our Daily Bread. This is the 16th year that the Murphy family has put on the free meal. They purchase all the food, cook it up, and serve it out themselves. The meal was started by Terry Murphy, who passed away a few years ago, and the family looks forward to helping others around Christmas time to keep going what he started.
“We always talking at church about giving,” says Dan Murphy. “It is not about us, it is never about you, it is always about somebody else. It is never a question that we are going to do it. It’s like they can’t wait for the time to get here.”
For some of the younger members of the family, this meal has been a part of their holidays for most of their life.
“It’s my favorite part of Christmas,” adds Payton Parlapiano. “It really brings in the Christmas cheer. Being here with the whole family, and everyone is dedicated to helping those who need help, it’s just a lot of fun.”
The family even brought gifts for the women and children.
