Students of Unity Elementary had fun in the sun Friday with their Mini Relay for Life.
This is the 9th year that the Mini Relay for Life has been put on by the school to help raise money through fundraising - they collected $1,200 for cancer research this year. The students also participated in activities that teach them that staying active and healthy is important - this is something that many of the students have taken to heart over the years.
"I learned from doing the Mini Relay for five years that exercise gives you more energy, and you're healthier," said Carnya Burns, a 4th grader at Unity.
"It's fun and we raise money for cancer, and we celebrate and that's why it's so important," said Brianna Upshaw, a 4th grader at Unity.
The students participated in activities like dancing and healthy snack making throughout the day.
