LIMA, OH (WLIO) - Some local elementary students got rewarded for their perfect attendance today(11/21/23) in a fun way.
Kids at Unity Elementary participated in a glow stick dance party. The party is part of the school's HOT for Learning program. HOT stands for Here On Time. Students who have been to school on time for the past week were rewarded with the fun dance party in the dark and school administration believes it's important to incentivize the young students to show up on time.
"Well, I think it's really important to set that tone early in life, because at your job you have to be on time, for anything that you do you have to be on time. And I want to tell students and parents how important it is because our day starts at 8:30, and if they miss any time at all they miss a lot of education," said Tricia Winkler, principal of Lima Unity Elementary
Unity holds a HOT for Learning program event once a week and rewards students with different themes throughout the school year.
