Media Release from Shawnee Township Police Department
At approx. 1:13 pm Shawnee Twp. officers were dispatched to the Pony Keg 1201 Shawnee Rd. for an injury accident. Upon arrival, officers learned the injuries were severe and requested assistance of an accident reconstructionist from Ohio State Patrol. As of now, we determined that a 2015 Hyundai Sonata was E/B on St Rt. 117, drove through the intersection of Shawnee Rd. against a red light, jumped the curb in front of the Pony Keg. This vehicle struck a 2003 Freightliner Pepsi delivery truck parked at the Pony Keg. The truck was then pushed into a 2018 Ford Fusion also parked in the front of the Pony Keg.
The Hyundai was being operated by Phyllis-Goodson-70 of Lima, OH. Phyllis was transported to St. Rita's Medical Center by Lima Fire Dept. with serious injuries. A front seat passenger is identified as Alexa K. Tippie-45 of St. Marys OH. was transported to St. Rita's Medical Center by Lima Fire Dept. This passenger was deceased upon arrival to the hospital. A rear seat passenger was identified also as Alexa K. Tippie -67 of St. Marys and was transported to St. Rita's Medical Center by Shawnee Twp. Fire Dept. This passenger died shortly after arrival at the hospital. Both Alexa's are mother and daughter and Phyllis is the sister and aunt to the passengers.
The Hyundai was totaled, the truck had to be towed from the scene and the Ford has minor damage. There were no injuries. This accident remains under investigation with no charges at this time alcohol is not suspected to be a factor at this time.

Two people are in the hospital after an accident in Shawnee Township this afternoon.
The accident happened right around 1:30 pm, where witnesses say a car was heading eastbound on State Route 117 and tried to avoid another car on the road. That's when the car jumped the curb and rammed into the back of a Pepsi truck that was in the parking lot of The Pony Keg. The Pepsi truck then was pushed into another car that was parked in the lot. Two people were transported from the scene and their conditions are currently unknown.
Shawnee Township Police are investigating the crash.
