LIMA, OH (WLIO) - It's an issue many don't think is happening in Lima-Allen County but it is and a local agency is doing something about it.
The West Ohio Community Action Partnership, known as WOCAP, once again getting a 2-year grant funding their Homeless Crisis Response Program. The program assists individuals and families who are homeless or who are facing eviction to stay in their home or find a place to live. The numbers show that the program is working.
"The HCRP program served 118 households in our last program year. Those numbers were for re-housing for individuals exiting shelters and coming from places unfit for human habitation. Our homeless prevention program served 36 households in that 2-year grant period with helping to prevent evictions and to help relocate after evictions," said Leora Donley, Housing Director WOCAP.
They can also assist people fleeing domestic violence. Applications are available at the WOCAP office at 540 South Central Avenue.
