LIMA, OH (WLIO) - For some residents in the area, personal hygiene items are hard to come by, but you can help them out by making a donation and possibly getting something in return from a local business. The West Ohio Food Bank and Cricket Wireless are teaming up to help the community and provide personal hygiene products to folks in need of them. The Cricket Wireless location on Cable Road currently has barrels for people to come and drop off an item and if you make a donation they will waive their $25 activation fee this week.
“The reason why we look to collect personal hygiene items is that because a lot of our clients, a lot of folks that come to the food bank, have SNAP benefits. However, you're not allowed to buy personal hygiene items by using your SNAP benefits,” says Jason Aldrich, WOFB Communications and PR Manager. “So that's why we're looking for items like toothpaste, toothbrushes, deodorant, feminine hygiene products. Those are the type of things that we try to collect, and then if we get enough of those, we either offer it to our agencies, pantries, or sometimes even hand those types of things at distributions.”
There will be a personal hygiene product drive this Saturday November 4th between 10 am and noon at the Cricket Wireless Store at 715 N. Cable Road in Lima.
