LIMA, OH (WLIO) - The Lima Police Department is investigating the circumstances around a body found early Sunday morning.
24-year-old Daquan Burse is on trial in three separate cases. One involves possession of a fentanyl-related substance that police found on him when he was found unresponsive on someone else's porch. Another was for trafficking heroin, that police made buys from him after he posted on social media that he was selling.
46-year-old Antrea Hardy is in the Allen County Jail on the charge of suspicion of felonious assault. According to the Lima Police detectives, officers responded to Imperial Inn just after 9:30 a.m. Monday morning. They found 40-year-old Cory Adkins with a single gunshot wound. He was taken to the hospital and is listed in critical but stable condition.
LIMA, OH (WLIO) - A Lima woman is in jail awaiting her day in court on arson charges.
The incident happened just after 4 p.m. Tuesday. Police say a domestic dispute between a man and a woman led to the woman being stabbed in the neck. She was taken to Mercy Health-St. Rita's and is believed to be in serious condition. Police are looking for 59-year-old Juan Fuentes, originally from Cuba, and goes by the name "Cuba". He is considered to be armed and dangerous. He was last seen driving a silver Toyota Sienna with the license plate number JSM4071.
An investigation continues Wednesday in two shootings that police believe are gang-motivated. Lima Police say that on Tuesday night they were called in reference to a shooting at a home near the intersection of Cole and Spring Streets.
LIMA, OH (WLIO) - Two people were injured in Lima Tuesday night in what detectives say is a gang-related revenge shooting.
The Lima Police officers got a call from a person at 764 W. Lane Ave. just before 6 a.m. for a potential home invasion and shooting. There they found a 17-year-old male who died from a gunshot wound. Detectives started interviewing individuals and they have some leads to multiple suspects that they are following up on.
The shooting occurred just before midnight Thursday when two female victims were shot in a car. Both victims were transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Two bullets were recovered by detectives at the scene. This is one of the various shootings that have occurred in the lima area. The department states that they are investigating the rise in shootings, and believe there might be a gang connection to them.
Every year, the Lima Exchange Club honors one member of local law enforcement with the Jack Sommerville Law Officer of the Year award. This year, two men were named as nominees for the award — Ptlm. Lawrence Nelson-Wallace of the Elida Police Department, and Det. Steve Stechschulte of the Lima Police Department.
