The 18th annual Lima Community Christmas Dinner to be held at the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1275 is being moved from this Sunday, Christmas Day to Sunday, January 8th. A local favorite, the meal of turkey, ham, and mashed potatoes is free of charge but below-zero wind chills and tricky travel conditions are forcing the change.

One more quiet day before changes arrive. Expect partly to mostly cloudy skies with very light winds. Highs today will reach the middle 40s.

A storm system overnight delivered heavy rainfall of 1 to 1.5" for much of the area. Widely scattered and light showers are expected from this point forward into early afternoon. A drier trend should develop later on today. Some brief flurries or snow showers are possible this afternoon and evening as colder air sinks in. Expect breezy winds with temperatures in the 30s and 40s.

The combination of ice along with a coating of snow has made everything quite slick this morning. As a result, many schools have either closed or delayed today. The slick travel will continue this morning, but increasing sunshine through the day will allow road conditions to improve. Afternoon temperatures top out in the upper 20s to near 30.

Temperatures dipped below zero in many areas this morning, the coldest morning since February 17, 2021! A light breeze around 5-10mph has dropped wind chills to the negative teens. As a result, a wind chill advisory remains in effect until 11AM. Temperatures reach the lower to middle teens for the afternoon high, but at least there will be sunshine.

Monday's clipper system dropped 1" of snowfall in Lima, pushing our season total to 3.8". Normally, we would have over 16" by this point in the winter! That said, it only takes a few big storms to radically change things.

A "balmy" morning for January with temperatures near 40°. The warmth has been funneled in by breezy southwest winds ahead of a cold front. Temperatures will fall for the afternoon after the front passes around midday. By 5PM, areawide temperatures should drop below freezing. Skies will turn mostly cloudy, but precipitation chances are low outside of a few sprinkles or a flurry.

Arctic air has returned to begin the week with light flurries and breezy winds. Little to no snow accumulation expected. Temperatures will only reach the low 20s for highs with those wind chills in the single digits.
