SHAWNEE TOWNSHIP, OH (WLIO) - The Shawnee Township Fire Department was called out for mutual aid to the Cenovus Lima Refinery this morning.
Cenovus officials, out of Calgary, Canada, have confirmed with Your Hometown Stations that there was a working fire at one of their units Tuesday morning. The Lima Refinery Emergency Response Team fought the fire that is reported to be out. Scanner traffic had Shawnee Township Fire Department's ladder truck and another unit requested to stand by on-site for mutual aid around 10:45 a.m. this morning.
Cenovus says no injuries were reported and that the local air quality is being monitored. They state that their first priority is the safety of their people, emergency responders, and the community. They also say the refinery is otherwise operating normally.
