FINDLAY, Ohio (WLIO) — The defending Blanchard Valley Conference champion Liberty-Benton Eagles showed why they remain the team to beat, rolling past rival McComb in a 52-9 victory.
It was a battle of longtime BVC rivals, with both programs entering the night having split their last ten meetings evenly at five wins apiece.
In the second quarter, McComb tried to find some momentum, but Reid Irwin ended that quickly with an over-the-shoulder interception and a 20-yard return. Just three plays later, Connor Barbara dropped back and launched a deep ball to Karson Griffin, who came down with a highlight-reel juggling catch in the end zone. That score made it 49-0 Liberty-Benton.
The Eagles’ defense continued to shine. Griffin added to his big night with an interception before halftime, closing the door on any Panthers comeback.
Liberty-Benton stays unbeaten in BVC play with a 52-9 win over McComb.
