LIMA, OH — The Lima Locos continue to roll—and right-hander Landon Vandegrift is a big reason why.

The University of Akron sophomore has been named the Great Lakes Summer Collegiate League Pitcher of the Week, following a stellar performance in a 10-0 shutout win over the Grand Lake Mariners.

Vandegrift was in command from the start, striking out three batters in the third inning while working with a five-run cushion. He went on to punch out 10 hitters over five scoreless innings, scattering just three hits and two walks. Of the 19 batters he faced, more than half went down on strikes.

His outing helped the Locos clinch the North Division title and extend their winning streak at the time.
