Ottawa-Glandorf sweeps WBL golf titles as Shawnee's Wright wins individual playoff

WAPAKONETA — Ottawa-Glandorf captured both the tournament and season championships in Western Buckeye League golf, firing a team score of 314 to finish 14 shots ahead of runner-up Shawnee. Wapakoneta placed third with a 330.
On the individual side, Shawnee’s Ashton Wright shot a 76, matching Ottawa-Glandorf’s Davis Maag. Wright prevailed in a five-hole playoff to claim medalist honors. Tyler Heckman finished third after winning a three-way playoff against O-G’s Collin Ellerbrock and St. Marys’ Hayden Roby.
The league also announced its yearly awards, with Wright named Player of the Year and Ottawa-Glandorf’s Jay Heckman honored as Coach of the Year.
ON THE INDIVIDUAL SIDE, SHAWNEE’S ASHTON WRIGHT SHOT A 76, MATCHING OTTAWA-GLANDORF’S DAVIS MAAG. WRIGHT PREVAILED IN A FIVE-HOLE PLAYOFF TO CLAIM MEDALIST HONORS. TYLER HECKMAN FINISHED THIRD AFTER WINNING A THREE-WAY PLAYOFF AGAINST O-G’S COLLIN ELLERBROCK AND ST. MARYS’ HAYDEN ROBY.
THE LEAGUE ALSO ANNOUNCED ITS YEARLY AWARDS, WITH WRIGHT NAMED PLAYER OF THE YEAR AND OTTAWA-GLANDORF’S JAY HECKMAN HONORED AS COACH OF THE YEAR.
