CELINA, Ohio - Celina snapped Wapakoneta's 26-game Western Buckeye League winning streak Friday night, rallying for a 7-6 victory in a game centered around injured Bulldogs quarterback Parker Wynk.

Wynk was injured in Week 1 while diving for a loose football and continues to recover from a spinal injury. His family has provided updates on his progress, and both communities honored him before Friday's game. Wapakoneta players wore number eight shirts during warmups, while Wynk's number was painted on the field.

The Redskins struck first in the second quarter when Daron Houser set up the offense inside the 10 before Gage Vaughn powered into the end zone. Wapakoneta led 6-0 after the missed extra point.

Celina answered in the third quarter. Jett Warner connected with Simon Schwartz to set up the Bulldogs inside the Wapakoneta 35 before Warner found Caleb Schlater for a touchdown on a full-extension catch. Celina took a 7-6 lead.

Wapakoneta had one final chance in the fourth quarter, but Celina's defense held on fourth down as Zane Boley came up with a sack to seal the win.

The victory gives Celina a 7-6 win and ends Wapakoneta's 26-game WBL winning streak, while bringing the two communities together to support Wynk and his recovery.
