WAPAKONETA — The Wapakoneta girls soccer team dominated in the Division III sectional finals, defeating Lima Senior 8-0 on Wednesday.
Lima Senior goalkeeper Jaislynn Ingram, the Toledo City League Defensive Player of the Year, made several early stops to keep the match scoreless. But Wapakoneta eventually broke through, as Avery Sheipline found the back of the net for the game’s opening goal.
Paige Olberding added another strike midway through the first half to give the Redskins a 2-0 advantage. Sheipline later tallied her second goal of the night, and Wapakoneta never looked back.
With the win, Wapakoneta advances to face Elida next Wednesday at 5 p.m. in Elida.
