LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) — Film buffs looking to cast a vote for the Oscars have a chance to do so at ArtSpace Lima, the region’s only location to host the Manhattan Short Film Festival.

As one of more than 500 locations worldwide, ArtSpace Lima will screen 10 short films eligible for Academy Awards consideration. Attendees will receive a ballot to vote for Best Actor and Best Film. The winning film from the festival automatically qualifies for Oscar consideration.

Sally Windle, executive director of ArtSpace Lima, said, “So there's an opportunity for people all across the world to be able to not only compete with this, but then they also have a chance to be nominated for an Academy Award. So it's just more inspiration. It's an opportunity, and it's also getting more and more filmmakers out there, because these shorts are gaining in popularity.”

The festival will be held at ArtSpace Lima in Lima’s Town Square on Friday, Sept. 26, Saturday, Sept. 27, Friday, Oct. 3, and Saturday, Oct. 4. Screenings begin at 7 p.m., with doors opening at 6:30 p.m. Tickets are $15 in advance or $20 at the door.
