WAPAKONETA, Ohio (WLIO) — New Bremen is moving on.
The Cardinals captured the Division VI Northwest 4 District championship Thursday night with a dominant three-set sweep over Colonel Crawford, 25-11, 25-11, 25-18, at Wapakoneta High School.
New Bremen controlled the match from the start, using sharp passing and aggressive hitting to keep the Eagles on their heels. Leading 17-9 in the third set, Charlotte Nelson set up Mary Rindler for a powerful kill that doubled the Cardinals’ advantage.
Moments later, Nelson again delivered a perfect assist — this time to Ashtyn Eilerman, who put away another point to push the lead to 23-13.
Eilerman finished the match in fitting fashion, slamming home the final kill to seal the victory and secure New Bremen’s latest district crown.
The Cardinals will now advance to the regional semifinals, where they’ll face Fairview next Thursday at 6 p.m. in Fostoria.
