A Rockford man dies in a UTV rollover crash in Mercer Co. Saturday night

DUBLIN TOWNSHIP, MERCER CO., OH (WLIO) - According to the Mercer County Sheriff, 25-year-old Dylan Bigelow was driving his Polaris UTV in the 3400 block of Rockford West Road just before 10 pm, when the vehicle went off the south side of the road. Deputies say that Bigelow overcorrected, and the vehicle traveled off the north side of the road and hit a ditch. The UTV flipped several times, and Bigelow was ejected. He was taken to the Van Wert hospital, where he was pronounced dead. This is the second fatal crash in Mercer County in 2024.

Mercer County Sheriff Jeff Grey reports that his office is investigating Mercer County’s second fatal traffic crash of 2024.  Grey advised that Mercer County Central Dispatch received a call at 9:57 PM last evening, April 6, of a crash that occurred in the area of 3416 Rockford West Rd in Dublin Township.  

The investigation revealed that a 2019 black Polaris Turbo UTV driven by 25 year old Dylan R Bigelow of Rockford, Ohio was travelling eastbound on Rockford West Rd when he went off the south side of the roadway and overcorrected, causing him to lose control and travel to the north side of Rockford West Rd.  Bigelow then hit the ditch, causing him to be ejected and the UTV to flip several times, coming to rest in the field north of Rockford West Rd.  Mr. Bigelow was transported from the scene by Rockford Squad 4 to Van Wert Hospital where he was pronounced deceased. 

The Mercer County Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by Rockford EMS and the Rockford Fire Department.
