Adult Crime Education Workshop held at Our Daily Bread

In part of Elder Abuse Awareness Month, Crime Victim Services held a workshop at Our Daily Bread Soup Kitchen on Tuesday.

The Adult Crime Education Workshops aim to educate seniors 60 years and older. The goal is to inform them of the services for safety, healing, legal, and recovery in case of abuse. These workshops are often done on location where elders are located because it can be hard for seniors to get around. Gerry Burton of the Council on Aging was informing the people at Our Daily Bread specifically about verbal abuse. It's a form of abuse that is often hidden.

If seniors believe they are a victim of abuse, they are encouraged to contact local law enforcement first.
