Allen County Commissioner comments on proposed $10 million in funding for Memorial Hall

LIMA, OH (WLIO) - Ohio Senate president Matt Huffman announcing millions of dollars in potential funding for local projects, including Lima's Memorial Hall.

The state's upcoming budget proposal includes hundreds of millions of dollars that communities applied for, and the Lima Veterans Memorial Hall would be awarded $10 million.

The building was closed back in 2014 after a study found that the structure had several safety issues. Huffman says rehabilitating vacant buildings like this will help Lima in its downtown revitalization efforts and draw more people to the city.

The Allen County Commissioners, who currently own the building, are working with the Port Authority to plan the future of Memorial Hall.

"They are continuing to go through that, have studies done bringing people and bringing entities through there. And when they determine that they have a project or they have an idea that they want to move, we'll be right there with them and excited to assist with that, and like we've done in the past, move that structure into the Port's name and watch what they do," Commissioner Cory Noonan said.
